This Basic Training is designed for CONSTRUCTION GRADE- CHECKERS, CONSTRUCTION MANAGERS/SUPERINTENDENTS,
ENGINEERS, INSPECTORS, AND HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATORS to use Topcon GPS+ Receivers and Software for typical Construction
layout and Grade Management. Basic Training in use of latest release of Pocket 3D, 3D Office, and introduction to 3D Machine
Control. Classroom and field training in Basic RTK GPS methods. Learn to convert Construction Plans to Digital Files
for use on job. Training in transferring data to and from Data Collectors and Laptop Computer. Learn how to “Localize”
to existing control points and to identify potential problems. Learn how to maximize advantages of GPS and learn limitations
of GPS. Introduction to using Control Box on Dozers, Graders, or Excavators and how to share data with the Operators. Intro
to using mmGPS Laser Augmentation for more accurate grades. Reference out points and as-built prior to burial. Learn
how to topo an area and create a balanced cut/fill surface with specified slope and to topo stockpile or pit to determine
quantities immediately. Learn to quickly and easily determine cut or fill remaining at any spot on the job and to see if it
is being built in accordance with the plans or not. There will be a “Field Exercise” at end to require teams
to demonstrate these skills on their own. Pre-Requisites: Basic understanding of Construction Plans and Practices.
. • GPS Alaska will provide all GPS Equipment needed.
. • Bring
your own Data Collector if Available (FC-100, 200, 2000, or 2200). You will be able to update firmware and
Pocket 3D during class. Up to 2 trainees can share a Data Collector. If you do not have one, let us know in advance and we
will provide one for you to share.
. • Bring your own Laptop computer. You will be able to
update 3D Office software during class. If you do not have your own Laptop you may share one of the classroom computers.

to all who complete the course.
