CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR SURVEYORS
As you
probably know, the Alaska Board of Registration for Architects, Engineers, and Land Surveyors requires that each Land Surveyor maintain a continuing level of competency, through “Continuing Education”,
as a condition of renewal of their registration. Prior to December 31, 2007 each Land Surveyor must obtain at least 15 Professional
Development Hours in order to be eligible for license renewal. Beyond that,
30 Professional Development Hours will be required each 2 year renewal period.
Up to 15 unused Professional Development Hours can be carried over to the next year.
All Registered Professional Land Surveyors should personally review these requirements which are detailed in 12 AAC
36.410 & 12 AAC 36.420. As described, continuing education courses and activities
are not pre-approved by the board, but must meet the criteria described in those sections.
GPS Alaska intends to provide opportunities for Alaska Surveyors to obtain this required continuing education.
After reviewing
those regulations, GPS Alaska, Inc. believes that the seminars and training described below qualify for the Professional Development
Hours listed. However, since the Board will not “pre-approve” any
courses, you yourself will be responsible for claiming this credit if you think it applicable.
GPS Alaska will provide documentation of the content, expertise of the presenters, and of your attendance at the event
to back up your claim of credit.
